October was a busy month in three year old preschool! The students learned about pumpkins by helping to carve their own classroom Jack O'Lantern. They enjoyed scooping out the pulp and then using that as a sensory bag. Then they painted their own shape jack o'lanterns pictures. Preschoolers also worked on their fine motor skills by lacing a pumpkin plate. Our last fall project was creating fall wreaths out of items students found out in nature, from acorns to leaves to corn cobs. Each wreath turned out so unique and special!IMG_2365.PNG

Seniors and Senior Parents: the FAFSA is scheduled to open December 1, 2024, but before that, you will need to create an FSA ID which is a unique username and password that will eventually be used to log you into your FAFSA. (Parents, if you have an FSA ID for an older child, you should not need to create a new one.) These need to go through an approval process, which can take up to 7 days, so you want to leave yourself a good amount of time to do this part before filling out the FAFSA. The student AND the parent each need to create an FSA ID. To do that, you will go here: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch Please contact high school counselor, Michelle O'Donnell, with any questions at m_odonnell@new-hampton.k12.ia.us or 641.394.2134 ext. 2025.

NHHS students taking a Fall college course: for regular 16 week courses, the final day to withdraw from the course is on Friday, November 15th. This will appear as a W on your college transcript. While a Withdrawal on a transcript does not affect your GPA, too many course withdrawals may impact your future financial aid eligibility. If you'd like to proceed with withdrawing from your class, you must complete the Withdraw Form with Mrs. O'Donnell.

The Spanish III classes explored more about El Día de los Muertos as our PBL for this semester. The students then created memory boxes remembering a special person or pet in their lives. The community outreach was subtle, but touching by the conversations some of the students had with family members who were able to share stories about someone important in their lives. Connecting with each other and learning from each other in meaningful ways honors those we remember. Great job students and family!
