The 7th Grade FCS class made homemade granola in a food lab. They learned measuring skills and following a recipe. Then today the seventh graders made yogurt fruit parfaits using their homemade granola. They were amazing! Mrs. Schmitt heard one student say, "Who knew something healthy could taste so good!?"

FCCLA Fall Leadership Rally was held at Kirkwood Hotel with 1,000 students. New Hampton students participated in two culinary challenges: Dip Challenge and Grilled Cheese Challenge. Braelynn Cagley & Chloe Willadesen (both freshmen) participated in both challenges. Karla Pickar (senior) participated in the Dip Challenge. They learned competition skills to compete in future events. Mrs. Schmitt and the FCCLA students attended break-out sessions to learn more about opportunities in FCCLA.
Baking I Class has been busy with their Cake Unit. They have learned how to make a crumb layer to frost, a little on cake designing, and the different methods of making different kinds of cakes. The students made layer cakes or a shape cake. They made their own frosting and fondant. Mrs. Schmitt is so proud of their efforts and how delicious they turned out.
New Hampton Cheerleaders have extra cookie dough from their fundraiser on hand to sell! Flavors include Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Cup, Snickerdoodle, Rainbow Candy, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, and Oatmeal Raisin. NH Cheer is selling these boxes for $20 and have 40 pre cut frozen cookies in each box! These are first come first serve and super limited quantities! 7th Grade FCS practiced the life skill of counting money. Counting back money is such an important skill to learn when the students are working jobs in the culinary field. They had fun learning with fake money.
