Environmental Science Students have been learning about land use. Casey Mai, Public Works Director, and Zoning Administrator for the City of New Hampton, presented to students about zoning rules and regulations as well as what his overall responsibilities are.
The Main Street West Jazz Choir went to the Iowa State Jazz Choir Competition yesterday and was able to perform in the historic Surf Ballroom! Great work jazz choir! You can hear them perform again at the Jazz Dessert show on March 7th at 7:00pm!

Good luck to our 7th and 8th grade Boys Basketball teams!! The 7th grade boys basketball game against Sumner-Fredericksburg will start at 4:15pm this evening at home. The 8th grade boys basketball team will travel to Sumner-Fredericksburg Middle School for their game at 4:15pm. Go Chickasaws!!
Advanced Foods learned about chocolate's nutrition and history today by playing an activity similar to the board game, "Clue". Mrs. Schmitt put 10 clues around the classroom and the students were out of their starting chutes with a bolt to solve the mystery. Learning can be fun!
Cooking Around the World has been studying Mexico and South American countries. The students have learned about agriculture, cultures, food, popular dishes, and geography. The students made Mexican dishes and we took a short field trip during our lunch / class period to "Cinco De Mayo Mexican Restaurant" in New Hampton. Their food was authentic and delicious. We only wish we had a "siesta" afterwards!
The FFA is doing a canned food drive the week of National FFA Week.
