Baking Class is practicing making pie crust and learning the different ways to trim or finish a two-crust pie. The students made homemade playdough and practiced how to roll out their pies and make fancy crust. We will do the real thing soon.

A few 4th graders presented at the board meeting Monday 3/21 to share about the 4th grade PBL project "What Bugs Me". The students that presented at the board meeting were the 4 place winners from the Science Fair hosted by Keystone in Calmar on March 8th. 14 students represented New Hampton at Calmar. Don't forget tonight and Thursday are parent teacher conferences. They go until 8 pm in all schools. On Thursday, conferences are shortened at the high school until 6:45 pm because of J-term. All other buildings are will be done at 8 pm.
Miss Ross' homeroom visited the public library, who is their Partner in Ed, to learn about what services the public library has to offer our students. The 4th graders got to get their own library card and were able to check out a book. We cannot wait to go again soon! Thank you New Hampton Public Library!

Junior, Kendra Pickar, practices music for clarinet for a Variety Show audition. Kendra demonstrates independent musicianship by researching and selecting music on her own and practices with piano accompaniment on her Chromebook.

Our school is getting ready to administer an annual school climate and culture survey called Conditions for Learning to students in grades 3-12. This survey administration is required by the state’s plan to meet a federal law called the Every Student Succeeds Act. Our school will conduct the survey in April. All Iowa public school districts will use the Conditions for Learning Survey (Survey) to improve safety, student engagement and the overall learning environment so that all Iowa students have optimum conditions for learning. Our work to improve safety, student engagement and the overall learning environment will have a lasting impact on the future.

Students in Mr. Frerich's and Mrs. Manson’s Geometry classes use their Geometry skills to find the height of the stadium light poles by the football field.
Nothing like waking up on a Saturday to watch a spay and neuter at the Fredericksburg Vet for extra credit in Biology. Morgan Dieterich and Sydney Hyer also assisted with a C-section for a French Bulldog, which was AMAZING!!! Mrs. Ohrt truly has the best students!!

Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) are coming up April 5th and 6th for all 9th-11th grade students. These tests are important for students to do their best to show growth. The are also used as a screener to allow students the ability to take dual credit college courses. These courses can help save students money and time after high school. All Senior students will report to school for their first class at 10:45 those days. Please see the linked letter:

Elementary parents and 5/6th grade parents: A order form is going home with your child today or Monday. It is an order form for the upcoming author visit we are going to have on March 30. We are lucky to have Coach Sloth coming to our school to speak to TK-6th grade! If you or your child would like to order books, please turn in the order form next Thursday (March 24) with money. I will be sending this to Coach Sloth so when he comes he will bring the books! Thank you!
