Ms. Verburg made a game for 6th grade band. She and the students took turns clapping rhythms and the class had to guess the numbered rhythms they clapped. The rhythms got longer the farther into the game they went.

Dustin Lewis from Security State Bank spoke to the Fourth Graders about banking as a follow-up to our Financial Literacy unit. The students learned the importance of savings. They also learned a lot about various jobs available in banking as well. They realized how important math is when working in a bank. The students did a great job of asking questions. Thanks to Dustin and Security State Bank for sharing with our future leaders.

Foods I students were doing a "friendly" competition between boys and girls describing prep terms. They would draw out cards that said: crimp, baste, creme, whip, and more. They really got into this game of learning prep terms. After they finished guessing as many as they could (each round was one minute long) after several rounds they put each term into groups: cutting, preparation, mixing, cooking, etc. By the way; the girls won!

Baking Class is practicing making pie crust and learning the different ways to trim or finish a two-crust pie. The students made homemade playdough and practiced how to roll out their pies and make fancy crust. We will do the real thing soon.
