Student Senate had a Homecoming Planning Retreat, and as a group the decided on the events for our 2022 Chickasaw Homecoming Week. This was the first time doing the planning this way, and the group worked really hard on the process. Each member was able to help decide the theme, the dress up days, and get involved in one of the committees for each part of the HUGE event that is New Hampton's Homecoming week. Everything that is in front of the community and students, and all of the behind the scenes planning is done by this group of leaders. Homecoming is a Tradition, and these are the ones who keep it moving forward even as we follow the theme of "Back to the Future" for 2022 Homecoming!
At tonight's volleyball game we will be raising awareness for a rare genetic disorder called leukodystrophy. Leukodystrophy is caused by a specific gene abnormality that leads to abnormal development or destruction of the brain's white matter. Unfortunately, there is no cure or treatment available to slow down the progression of this disease. There will be buckets passed around to collect money for a New Hampton family affected by this disorder.
Thanks to the Chickasaw Community Grant and NHHS we were able to purchase and have installed a new industrial dishwasher. The students love it! This will make sure the dishes are sanitized and done in a timely manner for food labs. "Thank you!" said Mrs. Schmitt.
Dance Team Stuff the Truck Night - 9/9/22
Baking I & Food Production I learned about leavening agents and how it makes baked goods raise. They made chocolate wheat waffles by whipping the egg whites to a stiff peak. The waffles turned out nice and fluffy!
Hospitality & Tourism Class made snack "Thank you plates" and handed them out to staff that worked extra hours this summer with a thoughtful note.
Tonight the volleyball team will be raising money for Brady Einck and his family at their game. Brady is 7 years old and has a rare genetic disorder called MLD. Please consider coming out to the game to support Brady and his family!”
Tonight's 9th/10th grade Football Curtain Raiser has been postponed due to weather concerns and will be rescheduled for a later date. The varsity football game at Charles City has been moved up to a start time of 6:30 pm. All seniors, juniors, and sophomores will be boarding the bus at 4:30.
Reminder there will be no JH football practice tonight. JH volleyball practice will still be on and will end around 3:00.
Friendly reminder that we have a 2 hour early dismissal today!
