Safety of all students is very important for our school. As a school, there are many events that can happen and decisions need to be made to keep all students and staff safe. Yesterday, we had a student medical emergency and our students and staff stepped up to help render assistance to the student. Every year our seniors are required to have training in CPR. As a high school, we have been doing it during our PE classes for several years so all students are exposed to how to handle some of these medical type emergencies. One of our students yesterday noticed a student that had fallen to the floor and was not breathing well. The helping student was able to quickly assess the situation and help to open the student’s airway. In doing so, this action helped create a positive outcome for our student in need. At the same time, our teachers were working on helping to make the room safe for everyone, move students to different locations, notify the office, call 911 for help, and halt the movement of students around the building to help emergency responders get to the student in need. Planning and preparation drills have given our students and staff the ability to quickly make decisions and help everyone in situations that can occur in the school. I would also like to thank our community response time with our EMS, police, and first responders. We have excellent staff in our community and a need for more volunteers to help keep our community safe and strong!

Students showed amazing creativity with their linear equation projects. Drawings were made on graph paper. Then students wrote equations for the lines that they drew.

FCS (Family & Consumer Science) was happy to host SSG Amanda Kramer Iowa Army National Guard Recruiter. Kramer had a competition with the students of who could prepare the best MRE (Meals Ready to Eat) and gave the students a variety of meals to prepare and combine into a dish. They were allowed to use whatever Mrs. Schmitt had in the pantry or refrigerator in their dish. They also had to present and explain their creations to the judges. This was Food II's results.

Advanced Foods completed one of their favorite units about Stir-Fry. There was a lot of prepping called "Mise En Place" which is French for put in place or set in place. Then you need to make your stir-fry in a particular order. We were so busy we only took one picture
